Surviving one year of marriage!

Morning guys!

On Sunday the 28th May, Tom and I celebrated our first wedding anniversary 🥂 One whole year of not killing each other which is an achievement in itself! It’s been quite an adventure for us; travelling around America, moving house and having a baby. It’s been very exciting!

We decided to go away for the bank holiday weekend as my mum and dad were happy to look after Jade (I don’t even have to ask sometimes, they are itching to have her!). We had the recording for a new game show called ‘Celebability’ in London on the Saturday (just Tom and I) then we went to Birmingham with some friends to go on the biggest go-karting track in the UK 🇬🇧.

Unfortunately I couldn’t take photos at the Celebability recording as we weren’t allowed and we are not allowed to say which celebrities took place in the show but I can tell you that the first episode airs on the 17th of June in ITV2. Not very helpful I know! It is an unusual game show so check it out if you want.

The next day we drove up to Birmingham and checked into our hotel at 2pm to unpack and get changed into something comfortable for go-karting. At first we did have an unsatisfactory experience on the track as our group (nine of us in total) were also put with six other people, so fifteen people in total on one track. You couldn’t even get one one full lap because the other people were messing around and not following the rules, which led to all of us being pulled off the track. We did complain and explained to the company that we have driven two hundred miles to come to this track and it was ruined because some people don’t know how to kart safely. Luckily, that understood completely! They let just our group go on the track again for free and we had an amazing time.

With our aching arms, we headed back to the hotel for a well needed shower and some food! The Premier Inn actually gave us a bottle of Bucks Fizz and a card! The restaurant unfortunately was a disaster and a complaint was put in but we tried to have fun. A quick look on Google maps to find the nearest Wetherspoons for some cheapass drinks to toast our anniversary. About 6/7 double G&Ts, a Jägar bomb and some drinking games later it was bedtime. No hangover in the morning but god I was shattered!

I love spending time with our friends and I was grateful to have two days to have some fun but I couldn’t wait to see my beautiful little girl!Such a big smile!

  1. sorry to hear about the carting and the restaurant, good on the carting people though to let you have another go, which you’d paid for, it’s not your fault they booked newbies at the same time.

  2. Congratulations on making it to one year! I was told getting passed the first year is tough due to adjusting to a new way of thinking – married not single on all paperwork etc, what is yours is mine 😉 haha. Sounds like you had a great time overall despite the restaurant complaint. Welcome to the married club! #TriumphantTales

  3. I am sorry that the restaurant was a disaster, but I am glad you had a great anniversary. I am incredibly impressed that you managed 6/7 G&Ts and a jaeger bomb without a hangover. You have more stamina than me. Happy Anniversary. Pen x #TriumphantTales
