You Beauty Box – May 2016

Welcome back! Today I bring you my You Beauty Box, the May edition.

If you have never heard of the YBB then let me explain to you how it works. You subscribe as a member and pay £6.95 a month (payment is taken on the first of each month) and you can select two items from the monthly shortlist. They also put in at least two extra items (sample sizes) that everyone will get.  A couple of days before the products become available online they send you out an email which displays all the products you can choose between:

It will list all the products including what the size will be, this is ideal as sometimes there might look like an expensive item but turns out to be a tiny sample. If you don’t like anything that month you can opt out and YBB won’t take any money.

I have been signed up to the box since it launched in 2013 and I have tried such a variety of products, new and old, and I generally have been happy with it. However, I have opted out for the past 6 months as I’ve felt the products just we’re not worth it. This month on the other hand they seemed to have picked up the pace and are back on top!

There was only two products I was drawn to as I have tried everything else! Here’s the Unboxing and what I picked:

This is the first box I have since they have ‘upgraded’. It’s a small black box with the YBB logo. The box is sleek and sturdy so can be re-used.

When you open the box you are greeted with your products, beautiful!  The items are packaged well and cushioned by the little black squiggles (no idea what they are called!!).

First up we have the little samples all YBB subscribers will receive. A Popband hair tie in charcoal grey (shades will vary). This is a fab sample as its soft, stretchy and you can tie your hair back right and it will leave it kink free when you take it out. If you were not using it as a hair band then you can pop it on your wrist. Next we have a Verso serum sample, this is a tiny sample that’s supposed to strengthen and heal your skin. It’s too small a sample for me to try as you won’t know if you like it that soon. Lastly for the small samples is a £15 gift card for Anne Semonin online. There is no minimum spend which is good but the products are quite expensive. I might wait until I see something I really want to use it.

Now onto the products I picked! It’s the Rodial Stem Cell Cleanser, RRP £8. This is a nourishing dual-action cleansing cream and mask with advanced stem cell technology, from the PhytoCellTell Alp Rose. The potent super-food complex of anti-oxidants, coconut oil, rose hip oil, rose wax and coco butter gently cleanses and feeds essential nutrients to the skin for instant relief to dehydrated complexions. I used this last night and my skin feels soft and norished.

Last in my box of goodies is the product I’m most excited about. It’s the Show Pure Treatment Oil, RRP £50 (!!!!!!). This rejuvenating pure treatment oil restores the hairs lustre and shine, leaving it strengthened, deeply norished and infinitely desirable. It smells like almonds and is a light weight oil that spreads evenly in wet hair. I used it last night and my hair smells amazing and is so soft!

Honestly, I picked this product purely for the bottle! It will look beautiful on my vanity (when I get one for the new house!) and I didn’t know how much it’s worth until I received it and had a look online. The bottle has a glass pipette to dispense the product which can be quite messy but as long as you are careful you won’t lose any product. This item is now sold out of the YBB website 😦

So thats the You Beauty Box! For only £6.95 I have £58 worth of products and that’s not including the Popband, serum or £15 gift card. Pretty much worth the money!
